Quarrier Boys Beat Lennox, Henry Hits 1,000 Career Points

The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys earned a big win on Friday, February 16th agains the Lennox Orioles.  Dell Rapids took the lead for good late in the third quarter in a 74-63 victory.  During the game, Jack Henry hit his 1,000th career point.

The Quarriers held a three-point lead, 12-9, at the end of a back-and-forth first quarter.  Dell Rapids led by as many as eight points early in the second quarter, but Lennox battled to tie the score 31-31 by halftime.  The Orioles held a 37-33 lead with 5:00 to play in the third quarter, and then the score was tied 41-41 with 3:00 to go.  Dell Rapids went on an 8-0 run over the next minute for a 49-41 lead.  The Quarriers ended third quarter with a 53-48 advantage after Henry’s layup at the buzzer, which was his 1,000th point of his career.  Dell Rapids never tailed in the fourth quarter and built a 10-point lead, 65-55, with 2:45 to play in the game.  Lennox never got closer than seven points the rest of the game.

Dell Rapids shot 55% (28-51) from the field overall, 35% (7-20) on three-point attempts, and 79% (11-14) from the free-throw line.  Lennox finished the game shooting 38% (21-56) overall, 11% (2-18) on three-point shots, and 66% (19-29) from the free-throw line.

Henry finished the game with 30 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocked shots.  Tad Tjaden added 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocked shots.  Drake Eastman had 12 points.  Treyse Eastman ended with five points and three assists.
