The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball had their first home basketball game of the season when they hosted the Lennox Orioles on Tuesday, December 12th. The Quarriers hung with Lennox for two quarters of play, but the Orioles pulled away in the second half for a 66-35 victory.
Lennox had just a six point lead at the end of the first quarter, 13-7. The Orioles extended that lead to 10 points a couple of times in the second quarter. They led 26-16 with 2:25 to play in the half, but Dell Rapids cut the lead to 31-23 at halftime. Unfortunately for Dell Rapids, the Oriole defense held Dell Rapids to just 12 total points in the second half. Lennox outscored Dell Rapids 35-12 in the final two quarters of play.
Jersi Schultz had 12 points and seven rebounds. Clara Justice finished with seven points and 12 rebounds. Rorie Thoreson added six points, three assists, and two steals. Elly Olson and Shelby Welbig both had five points and three rebounds each.
