Quarriers Advance to SoDak 16, Henry Reaches 1,000 Kills

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team had a big night on Thursday, November 2nd.  Dell Rapids advanced to the SoDak 16 after a straight set win over the Madison Bulldogs by set score of 25-23, 25-17, and 29-27.  Not only did the Quarriers advance to the SoDak 16, the game-winning kill by Madelynn Henry was the 1,000 kill of her career.

Madison came out of the gates with a 5-1 run to start the first set.  Dell Rapids cut the lead to 7-5.  After a 13-13 tie, the Quarriers went on a run.  They went on a 9-3 run to go ahead 22-16.  Dell Rapids 24-18, and then Madison made things interesting.  The Bulldogs cut the lead to 24-23, but Dell Rapids stopped any further rally and won the first set 25-23.

The second set started with a 4-4 tie, but then the Quarrier offense got rolling.  They took an 8-4 lead with a 4-0 run, and then continued to build on that lead.  Dell Rapids led 16-9 and the 24-14.  Madison scored three in a row to cut the lead to 24-17, but the Quarriers took the win 25-17.

The Bulldogs opened the third set with a 4-1 run.  Dell Rapids tied the score 7-7.  Madison went on a 4-1 run to take an 11-8 lead.  The Quarriers tied the score again 13-13.  The Bulldogs again went in front by three points, 19-16.  Dell Rapids worked to tie the score 22-22 and then took a 23-22 lead.  The teams went back and forth to ties of 24-24, 25-25, 26-26, and 27-27.  The Quarriers went ahead 28-27, and then Henry delivered the match-winning kill for her 1,000th of her career.

Henry finished with 21 kills and two blocks.  Lauryn Kloth had 11 kills and three blocks.  Elin Schoenhard added six kills.  Clara Justice had four kills and two blocks.  Kylee Fiddelke finished with three kills and four digs.  Sophi Randall had 40 set assists and four digs.  Alaina Wolff had 12 digs and four ace serves, and Karlie Ingalls added nine digs.

Dell Rapids will play Hill City in the SoDak 16 on Tuesday, November 7th in Chamberlain at 5:30 p.m.   Big Sioux Media Sports Network will broadcast the match.
