The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team won a Region 3A matchup on the road against the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars on Tuesday, September 26th. The Quarriers won in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-11, and 26-24.
Dell Rapids got off to a quick start in the opening set and led 7-3. The lead grew to 16-6 before McCook Central/Montrose made a run. The Fighting Cougars got within three points, 20-17, but Dell Rapids ended the rally and won 25-21.
The Quarriers built another big lead in the second set after an early 3-2 lead. They went on a 14-3 run for a 19-5 and took the second set 25-11. The third set went back and forth early. The Quarriers led 9-8, but the Fighting Courgars went on a 4-0 run for a 12-9 lead. They continued their run and built a 17-11 advantage. Dell Rapids fought back to trail by a point, 20-19. The teams traded points with McCook Central/Montrose still holding a point lead at 24-23. Dell Rapids scored the final three points to win 26-24 and take the match win.
