The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team finished with a 2-3 record at the Sandford Pentagon Tournament on Saturday, September 23rd. The Quarriers went 0-2 in pool play, but 2-1 in bracket play.
In the first pool play match of the day, the O’Gorman Knights defeated the Quarriers by scores of 25-18 and 25-9. Madelynn Henry had five kills and seven digs. Elin Schoenhard had three kills and two digs. Sophi Randall added 11 set assists and four digs. Alaina Wolff had eight digs.
Western Christian, IA defeated Dell Rapids in the second pool play match by scores of 25-17 and 25-18. Henry had nine kills, two digs, and an ace. Schoenhard had three kills and a dig. Lauryn Kloth added two kills and a block. Randall finished with 16 set assists. Wolff had three digs, and Kylee Fiddelke had two digs.
Dell Rapids bounced back with a win over Huron in the first bracket play match. The Quarriers defeated the Tigers in straight sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-12. Kloth had a team-high 11 kills with two digs. Henry finished with seven kills and six digs. Schoenhard, Randall, and Fiddelke all had two kills each. Karlie Ingalls finished with eight digs. Fiddelke added five digs, and Wolff ahd four digs. Randall had 18 set assists.
The Quarriers were able to avenge their loss to Western Christian earlier in the day and took a win by scores of 25-20 and 26-24. Kloth had 10 kills. Schoenhard added eight kills, and Henry had seven kills. Randall finished withe four kills, three ace serves, 28 set assists, and two digs. Wolff had five digs, and Henry had three digs.
In the final match of the day, Unity Christian, IA defeated Dell Rapids by scores of 25-23 and 25-19. Kloth had four kills. Henry had three kills. Clara Justice and Schoenhard each had two kills. Randall had four ace serves, 13 set assists, and seven digs. Wolff finished with four digs.
