The Dell Rapids Quarriers played in just their second home match of the season and won an exciting, straight set match over the Canton C-Hawks on Tuesday, September 12th. Dell Rapids had to come from behind in each set, but won by scores of 25-19, 31-29, and 25-22.
Dell Rapids led 5-2 early in the first set, but Canton tied the score 5-5 and then went ahead 11-7. The Quarriers tied the score 12-12. The two teams went back and forth to an 18-18 tie. Dell Rapids ended the first set on a 7-1 run for a 25-19 win.
The two teams started the second set tied 5-5. Canton pulled ahead and kept a two-to-three point lead until extending the lead to 16-11. The C-Hawks held a five-point lead 20-15, but Dell Rapids then went on a 6-1 run to tie the score 21-21. Canton was at set point, 24-22, but Dell Rapids rallied again to a 24-24 tie. The two teams traded points and were still tied 29-29. The Quarriers finally got the last two points for a 31-29 win.
Dell Rapids led by two points, 5-3, early in the third set. Canton tied the score 7-7. They went on an 8-3 run for a 15-10 lead. The C-Hawks continued to lead 18-14. Dell Rapids then went on a run. They tied the score 18-18 before going ahead 21-19. Canton made one last push and tied the set 22-22. The Quarriers ended the match on a 3-0 run for a 25-22 win.
