Quarriers Get Last Second Win in Hot Springs

Jack Henry scored the game-winning touchdown on a two-yard run on fourth down with just :15 to play to give Dell Rapids a 20-14 win in Hot Springs on Friday, September 8th.  The game between #1 Dell Rapids and 11B #5 Hot Springs was a battle all game long.

The Bison scored first with 2:27 to go in the first quarter on a 14-yard touchdown run.  A made extra point gave Hot Springs a 7-0 lead.  Dell Rapids took the lead with 4:10 to go in the second quarter.  Henry found a sliding Mason Stubbe in the back of the end zone on a 23-yard pass.  Stubbe scored the two-point conversion to go ahead 8-7.  The score remained 8-7 at halftime.

Hot Springs regained the lead with 5:02 to play in the third quarter.  On fourth down the Bison completed a 28-yard touchdown pass.  The extra point was good, and the Bison led 14-8.  Dell Rapids tied the game just thirty seconds into the fourth quarter.  Stubbe had a three-yard touchdown run to make the score 14-14.  The Quarrier defense held strong in the fourth quarter setting up the game winning drive by the offense.

Dell Rapids finished with 320 total yards, 191 passing yards and 129 rushing yards.  Hot Springs had 137 yards, 102 rushing yards and 35 passing yards.  The Quarriers had 20 first downs in the game compared to just seven for Hot Springs.

Stubbe had 17 carries for 64 yards and a rushing touchdown.  Henry had nine carries for 19 yards and a touchdown.  Cole Ruesink added six rushes for 34 yards.  Henry was 12-19 passing for 191 yards and a touchdown.  Tad Tjaden had seven catches for 93 yards.  Stubbe had three catches for 52 yards and a touchdown.  Ruesink had two receptions for 46 yards.

Stubbe also had 10 tackles in the game.  Treyse Eastman finished with 8.5 tackles.  Sutton Williams finished with four tackles and a sack.  Ruesink had 2.5 tackles along with a fumble recovery and an interception.  Aiden Geraets finished with four tackles.  John Mortrude added three tackles.
