The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team looked impressive in their first match of the season on Tuesday, August 22nd. Dell Rapids traveled to Elkton to start the 2023 season and came home with a 3-0 win over the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks by scores of 25-17, 25-9, and 25-14.
In the opening set, the two teams went back and forth and were tied 7-7. Dell Rapids then went on a 7-1 run for a 14-8 lead. The lead grew to double digits, 20-10. The Quarriers wrapped up the first set 25-17. Dell Rapids wasted no time in building a nice lead in the second set. They started on a 10-3 run and never looked back on their way to a 25-9 win. The Quarriers got out to another fast start, 9-3, in the third set. The Elks were never able to get any closer than that six point deficit as the Quarrires won the match in straight sets.
Madelynn Henry finished with 11 kills, 10 digs, and three ace serves. Lauryn Kloth added nine kills and three assisted blocks. Kylee Fiddelke had five kills and five digs. Clara Justice had five kills, and Elin Schoenhard had four kills. Sophi Randall had 28 set assists, three kills, eight digs, two assisted blocks, and two ace serves. Alaina Wolff had six digs and four set assists.
