Dell Rapids Volleyball Sets Sights on State Tournament

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team finished 19-10 overall in 2022, with five of those losses coming against state-qualifying teams.  The Quarriers placed fourth in the conference in regular season matches and fifth in the conference tournament, and then lost a very close five-set match to Garretson in regions.

This year’s team has its sights set on qualifying for the state tournament.  Head coach Erica Fersdahl said, “We have put in a ton of work in the off season to play in an extremely competitive Dak-12 Conference.  We are focusing on one thing at a time to ultimately reach our goal of competing for a state title in Rapid City in November.”

This year’s team returns senior Kylee Fiddelke and juniors Sophi Randall, Lauryn Kloth, and Clara Justice.  Sophomore Elin Schoenhard and freshmen Madelynn Henry and Alaina Wolff also return.  Karlie Ingalls (sophomore), Cate Traill (sophomore), Peyton Hohn (sophomore), Jocelyn Amundson (freshman), and Sylea Sykes (8th grade) have potential to make a difference on the court this season.

The 2023 season starts on the road at Elkton on Tuesday, August 22nd.  The first home match will be Thursday, August 24th against West Central.
