Mogen and PBR Defeats Cornbelt Foe in Second Round

Brett Mogen pitched a complete game as Dell Rapids PBR defeated Cornbelt League foe, Madison, 2-1 in the second round of the South Dakota State B Amateur Baseball Tournament in Mitchell on Wednesday, August 9th.

Mogen allowed an earned run, scored in the fourth inning, on just two hits while striking out 17 batters and walking none to keep the PBR season alive.

Dell Rapids scored both of their runs in the bottom of the second inning.  Riley Calhoon had a two-out RBI single, and Chris Burke followed with an RBI double to give PBR a 2-0 lead.  Burke finished with two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Calhoon also had two hits and an RBI.  Brayden Pankonen and Teagan Schlimgen each had a single.

PBR will play Dimock-Emery on Friday, August 11th, at 7:30 p.m. in the third round of the state tournament.
