Dell Rapids 14U broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn a 5-4 win over Tri-Valley Maroon on Monday, June 26th.
Tri-Valley scored three runs in the top of the first inning for an early 3-0 lead. Dell Rapids was able to tie the game with three runs in the bottom of the second. Eli Gullickson had an RBI ground out, and Thomas LaVoy had a two-run double to make the score 3-3. Tri-Valley went ahead again with a run in the top of the third. Luke Symens added an RBI ground out in the bottom of the third to tie the game again. The score remained 4-4 until the bottom of the sixth. LaVoy had an RBI single that proved to be the game winner.
LaVoy had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs. Symens had two hits and an RBI. Jackson Peppel and Hayden Hansen each had a double. Gage Bunkers had a hit, and Gullickson added an RBI. Rhett Thoreson pitched two innings and allowed three runs on a hit and three walks with two strikeouts. Bunkers pitched five innings and allowed an earned run on three hits with five strikeouts.
