Quarrier Softball Heading to State Tournament

In their first year sanctioned as a high school team, the Dell Rapids Quarrier softball team has qualified for the 2023 South Dakota State A Softball Tournament after a 24-0 win over Canton in the SoDak 16 on Tuesday, May 23rd.

Katie Kvigne and Liz Price combined to keep Canton hitless and also combined for seven total strikeouts on the nine total batters faced in the game.  The offense put 18 runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning and then added six more in the bottom of the second.  The game ended after the top of the third inning.

Price had two hits, including a grand slam home run, and five RBIs.  Lexi Ingalls had two hits, one a home run, and three RBIs.  Kvigne also had two hits and three RBIs.  Jaycee Tebay and Katie Scherff both had a double and triple with two RBIs each.  Kylee Fiddelke had a triple and RBI.  Claire Wynja had a double and an RBI.  Rileigh Foster finished with a single and RBI.  Kylie Lebahn finished with a double.  Kvigne pitched two innings and struck out six.  Price pitched the final inning striking out one.

Dell Rapids enters the state tournament as the #1 seed and will play Lennox in the opening round on Thursday, June 1st at 10:00 a.m.  The state tournament will run through June 3rd and be held in Aberdeen.
