The Dell Rapids high school club baseball team (13-2) continued their winning streak with a 7-2 win over West Central on senior night on Monday, May 15th.
Both teams scored all their runs in the first two innings of the game. Dell Rapids scored three times in the bottom of the first. Joe Rechtenbaugh had a two-run double, and CJ Smit had an RBI sacrifice fly. West Central got their two runs in the top of the second. Treyse Eastman had an RBI bunt single in the bottom of the second. Jack Henry brought home two with a double, and Sutton Williams scored on an error pushing the Dell Rapids lead to 7-2. Neither team scored the rest of the game.
Henry finished with two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Rechtenbaugh had a double and two RBIs. T. Eastman added a single and RBI. Brayden Pankonen and Mathis each had a single, and Smith finished with an RBI. Henry pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits and four walks with 12 strikeouts. Pankonen pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed just one walk with one strikeout.
