Playing in their final regular season home game of the season, the Dell Rapids Quarriers (3-17) fell to the Dakota Valley Panthers 49-34 on Friday, February 10th.
Dakota Valley kept built a lead in the first quarter and kept adding to it through the first three quarters of play. The Panthers led 11-6 and the end of the first quarter. The lead grew to 25-14 at halftime and then 40-20 by the end of the third quarter. Dell Rapids did outscore the Panthers 14-9 in the final quarter.
The Quarriers shot 26% (15-48) overall in the game, just 1-14 on three-point attempts, and 3-3 from the free-throw line. Dakota Valley ended the night shooting 46% (20-44), 3-10 from three-point area, and 6-6 from the free-throw line.
Liz Price had 12 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Jenna Miller finished with 10 points, two rebounds, and two blocked shots. Elly Olson added four points, eight rebounds, two steals, and two assists. Kerrigan Kindopp, Shelby Welbig, Clara Justice, and Peyton Hohn all had two points each.
Price and Kindopp, the two seniors on the 2022-2023 Quarrier team, were recognized after the ballgame.
JV Results – Coach Huska Update
The Quarrier JV team fought hard for three quarters before Dakota Valley’s pressure defense got the best of them, falling 21-43 Friday night to the Panthers. Mya DeStigter had eight points and two steals. Taylor Schmidt finished with five points and two rebounds. Adah Cavigielli had three points. Hohn and Welbig both had two points and four rebounds each. Alaina Wolff had one point and two steals.
