Madison’s Layup in Closing Seconds Takes Win from Dell Rapids

Trailing by a point, Madison got a loose ball steal and then a fast break layup with under :10 to go which proved to be the game winner against the Dell Rapids Quarriers.  Madison took the 62-61 win on Thursday, January 19th.

The game was a close, back-and-forth battle all game long.  There were 15 lead changes and seven ties in the game.  Dell Rapids’ largest lead was nine points in the second quarter, and Madison had a lead of four points in the third.  The Quarriers led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter.  The Bulldogs had a 33-32 lead at halftime, and a 49-47 lead at the end of three quarters.

The Quarriers shot 42% (24-57) from the field, 37% (10-27) from three-point area, and 38% (3-8) from the free-throw line.  Madison shot 46% (24-52) overall, 21% (3-14) on three-point attempts, and 65% (11-17) from the free-throw line.

Brayden Pankonen finished with 20 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.  Camden Justice had 15 points.  Jack Henry added 11 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
