Quarriers Continue to Roll with Win over St Thomas More

The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team kept the undefeated season going with a 42-19 win over the St Thomas More Cavaliers in the final home game of the regular season on Friday, October 14th.

Brayden Pankonen scored the only touchdown in the first quarter on a seven-yard pass from Jack Henry.  Dell Rapids led 7-0 after the first quarter.  The Cavaliers tied the game on a four-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, but Dell Rapids would get two more scores before halftime.  Henry connected with Chase Jones on a 17-yard pass, and Pankonen had a 10-yard touchdown run in the quarter.  Camden Justice made both extra points, and Dell Rapids led 21-7 at halftime.

Pankonen scored for the third time in the third quarter on a 7-yard run to push the Quarrier lead to 28-7.  St Thomas More had a 19-yard touchdown pass, but the extra point was no good for a 28-13 score.  Henry and Pankonen connected for another touchdown in the third quarter, this time on a 49-yard pass.  Cole Ruesink got into the end zone on a five-yard run in the fourth quarter.  St Thomas More also had a touchdown run of one yard in the final quarter.

Henry was 6-8 passing for 127 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.  Pankonen had four catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns.  Jones had a catch for 17 yards and a touchdown, and Mason Stubbe had a catch for 14 yards.  Henry also had four carries for 83 yards.  Stubbe finished with eight carries for 67 yards.  Ruesink had five carries for 51 yards and a touchdown.  Pankonen added 10 carries for 40 yards and two touchdowns.

Jones and Aiden Geraets both had 4.5 tackles.  Stubbe, Pankonen, and Will Jaton all had 3.5 tackles each.  John Mortrude finished with three tackles.
