Quarriers Earn Straight Set Win over Fighting Cougars

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team has been on a roll as of late.  The Quarriers won their fifth match out of their last six after a straight set win over the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars on Tuesday, September 27th.

After the two teams battled back-and-forth through the first half of the opening set, Dell Rapids broke a 16-16 tie with three straight points for a 19-16 lead.  The Fighting Cougars responded with a 4-1 run to tie the score 20-20.  The score was again tied 22-22 before Dell Rapids finished the set on a 3-1 advantage for the 25-23 win.

McCook Central/Montrose held the early lead, 7-4, to start the second set.  Dell Rapids tied the set at 8-8, and the two teams traded points and were still tied at 18-18.  The Quarriers found some momentum and finished the set on a 7-3 run for a 25-21 win.

That momentum carried over into the third set as the Quarriers jumped out to an 8-2 advantage.  Dell Rapids continued to keep some distance between them and the Fighting Cougars and eventually pushed the lead to 18-9.  The Quarriers were in complete control at that point and finished the match with a 25-17 win.

Lauryn Kloth had a team-high 11 kills.  Sophi Randall finished with nine kills, 26 set assists, two ace serves, 19 digs, and two blocks.  Kylee Fiddelke had two ace serves as well.  Lexi Ingalls finished with 12 set assists.
