The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team traveled to Garretson for a Region 3A match-up with the Garretson Blue Dragons on Tuesday, September 20th. The Blue Dragons won the match in straight sets 25-23, 25-16, and 25-19.
The Quarriers got out to an early lead to start the match, 8-3. They continued to lead by five points at 13-8. Garretson slowly chipped away at the lead and tied the set 19-19. The Blue Dragons then pulled away at 24-21 before winning the first set 25-23.
After an early 9-9 tie in the second set, Garretson went on a 6-0 run for a 15-9 lead. That run was enough to keep the Blue Dragons in front the rest of the set on their way to a 25-16 win. Garretson built a 10-5 lead early in the third set. They were able to extend that lead to 19-12. Dell Rapids got within four points at 21-17, but that was as close as they could get as the Blue Dragons won the set 25-19 to win the match.
Maddie Henry had 16 kills, seven digs, and two ace serves in the match. Lauryn Kloth finished with six kills. Kylee Fiddelke added four kills, nine digs, and three ace serves. Sophi Randall finished with 26 set assists and five digs. Alaina Wolff had a team-high 14 digs.
