Quarrier Volleyball Splits Four Matches at Canton Tournament, Randall Hits 1,000 Career Set Assists

The Dell Rapids Quarriers split their four matches at the Canton Tournament on Saturday, August 27th, finishing the day with a 2-2 record.  Dell Rapids defeated Viborg/Hurley and Vermillion, but lost to Canton and West Lyon.  Sophomore Sophie Randall hit a career milestone of 1,000 set assists in the match against West Lyon.

Game 1:  Dell Rapids 2, Viborg/Hurley 1

Dell Rapids opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over the Viborg/Hurley Cougars by scores of 25-20, 23-25, and 25-18.

Maddie Henry led the team with 14 kills in the match.  Kylee Fiddelke finished with seven.  Lauryn Kloth had two blocks.  Alaina Wolff had seven digs, and Henry finished with six.  Randall had 24 set assists to lead the team.

Game 2:  Canton 2, Dell Rapids 0

Dell Rapids then faced the Canton C-Hawks in the second match.  The C-Hawks won in straight sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-20.

Henry finished with eight kills in this match.  Fiddelke finished with six, and Kloth had four kills.  Fiddelke also had two ace serves.  Wolff had a team-high 10 digs.  Fiddelke finished with five digs, and Randall had three.  Randall also had 19 set assists.

Game 3:  West Lyon 2, Dell Rapids 1

The Wildcats and Quarriers played a very close match in all three games.  Dell Rapids took the first set 25-22.  West Lyon won the second set by a score of 25-21.  The final set went extra time with the Wildcats getting a 27-25 win to take the match.

Henry had nine kills.  Kloth finished with six kills.  Cate Traill and Fiddelke each had four kills.  Randall finished with four ace serves, and Henry had two aces.  Wolff again led the team with 11 digs.  Randall had eight digs.  Lexi Ingalls and Fiddelke both had six digs, and Kloth and Henry each had five.  Randall recorded 22 more set assists, including the 1,000 of her career.

Game 4:  Dell Rapids 2, Vermillion 0

Dell Rapids ended the day with a straight-set match win against the Vermillion Tanagers.  Dell Rapids cruised to a 25-18 and 25-16 victory.

Henry added eight kills to her day.  Fiddelke and Kloth both had four kills each.  Randall and Karlie Ingalls both ended with three kills.  Randall also had three ace serves, a block, and 16 set assists.  L. Ingalls had two ace serves.  Wolff finished with seven digs.  Henry and Fiddelke each had six.

Dell Rapids will host Baltic on Monday, August 29th.
