The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls hosted the undefeated De Smet Bulldogs on Friday, January 10th. The Bulldogs remained unbeaten as they beat the Cardinals 52-33.
St Mary kept within striking distance throughout the first quarter. The Cardinals never got behind by more than five points and finished the quarter trailing 10-7. De Smet used a big second quarter to put some space between them and the Cardinals. The Bulldogs outscored St Mary 17-3 for a 27-10 halftime lead. The second quarter advantage for De Smet proved to be the deciding factor in the game. The Bulldogs only outscored St Mary by two points the entire second half at 25-23 for the 19-point win.
Ella Heinitz led the team with 19 points in the game.
