The #7 seeded Beresford Watchdogs traveled to #2 Tea for the opening round of the Region 4A Tournament on Tuesday, February 20th. The Titans used a big second half for a 72-39 victory.
The first two quarters of play were close. Tea Area held a five-point lead at the end of the first quarter 15-11. They kept their lead throughout the second quarter, but Beresford was playing step-for-step with them. The Watchdogs were within four points, 30-26, in the closing seconds of the second quarter. The Titans were able to convert a field goal and free throw right before the buzzer for a 33-26 halftime lead. The second half is where Tea Area took control of the game. Beresford was only able to score four points in the third quarter, and the Watchdogs trailed 55-30 going into the fourth quarter.
Ella Merriman had 16 points, five rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Lily Seivert finished with seven points. Hanah Colford ended with five points. Harley Koth added four points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Makiah Sharpe also had four points with three rebounds.
