Regular Season Ends in Tough Loss for Beresford Girls

The Beresford Watchdog girls had their regular season end at home on Friday, February 21st in a make-up game with the Lennox Orioles.  The Orioles held off the Watchdogs for a 44-41 win.

The game was tied 7-7 after the first four minutes of the game.  Lennox finished the firsts quarter on a 5-2 run for a 12-9 lead.  Beresford started the second quarter with a 9-0 run for an 18-12 lead with 4:45 to go.  The first half ended with the Watchdogs leading 22-18.

Lennox went on a run in the third quarter.  They outscored the Watchdogs 16-5 for a 34-27 lead going into the fourth quarter.  Beresford caught the Orioles and even took the lead late in the game.  Lennox regained the lead 42-41.  The Watchdogs had a chance to tie the game, and even take the lead, with two free throws with less than ten seconds to go.  Unfortunately for the Watchdogs, both free-throws were missed.  The Orioles added two more free-throws in the final seconds to secure the win.

Ella Merriman had 22 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.  Harley Koth finished with 11 points.  LLily Seivert added four points and two assists.  Kelly Merrigan and Kendra Ellis both had two points and three rebounds each.
