The Beresford Watchdog boys basketball team faced the Vermillion Tanagers at the VHS Booster Club Classic held at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center on Saturday, December 16th. The Tanagers pulled away in the third quarter for a 76-56 win.
Vermillion had a six-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 20-14. The Tanagers extended their lead to double digits in the second quarter and took a 36-23 lead into the locker room at halftime. Beresford was within 10 points for over half of the third quarter, but Vermillion started to pull away later in the quarter. The Tanagers led 57-38 at the end of the third quarter. They outscored the Watchdogs 19-18 in the fourth quarter.
Malachi James had a team-high 21 points with three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Tiegen Nyhaug had 15 points on five made three-pointers and also had three rebounds. Andrew Atwood finished with nine points, six rebounds, and five assists. Seth James had six points and six rebounds.
