Watchdog Boys Split Last Two Regular Season Games

The Beresford Watchdog boys finished their regular season with back-to-back home games.  They hosted the Lennox Orioles on Tuesday, February 25th and then hosted Freeman Academy/Marion on Thursday, February 27th.

The Orioles held a double-digit lead at the end of first quarter.  Beresford cut the lead to single digits by the end of the second quarter, and Lennox led 37-29 at halftime.  The Orioles maintained about a 10-point lead throughout most of the third quarter.  They went on a little run and pushed the lead to 54-41 going into the fourth quarter.  The advantage grew to 64-48 for the Orioles with 4:00 to play in the game.  Lennox took the win 71-54.

Beresford bounced back on Thursday against the Bearcats and took a 74-53 win on their final regular season game of the year.  The first quarter was high scoring by both teams, and the quarter ended in a 22-22 tie.  The offense for Beresford kept rolling in the second quarter, scoring 30 points, which helped the Watchdogs take a 52-37 lead at halftime.  The Bearcats were held to just one point in the third quarter, and Beresford led 71-38 going into the fourth quarter.

Malachi James had 23 points and five rebounds.  Tiegen Nyhaug finished with 16 points.  Aidan Hamm had 10 points and five rebounds.  Joseph Sharpe added eight points and eight rebounds.  Cooper Nelson ended with seven points, five rebounds, and three assists.
