Bulldog Softball Holds off Sioux Valley for Win

The Baltic Bulldogs scored in the first three innings and held off the Sioux Valley Cossacks for a 3-2 home win on Thursday, April 23rd.

Anna Hoekman scored on an error in the bottom of the first to give Baltic an early 1-0 lead.  Sioux Valley tied the game in the top of the second inning with a run.  Analiyah Hansen put the Bulldogs back in front with an RBI single in the bottom of the second.  Ellie Pickett also had an RBI single in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to 3-1.  The Cossacks made the score 3-2 with a run in the top of the fifth.  Sioux Valley got the tying run to third base in the top of the sixth, but the Bulldogs were able to stop the Cossacks from scoring.

Hoekman had two hits, one a double.  Pickett and Hansen each had a single with an RBI.  Jordyn Wehde also had a hit.  Charlee Blommer pitched all seven innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits and two walks with 12 strikeouts.
