Baltic Softball Season Ends Against Redfield in SoDak 16

The Redfield Pheasants scored a run late in the game to take a 6-5 win over the Baltic Bulldogs in the SoDak 16 in Baltic on Tuesday, May 26th.  The loss unfortunately means the end of the season for the Bulldogs, who end the season with an overall record of 13-7.

After a scoreless first inning, Redfield scored two times in the top of the second.  Madyson Determan hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second to cut the lead in half, 2-1.  Kya Rollinger tied the game, 2-2, with a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third.  Redfield regained the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fourth with a solo home run.

The Bulldogs rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Ellie PIckett had an RBI double.  Analiyah Hansen had an RBI ground out, and Jordyn Whede added an RBI single to put Baltic ahead 5-3.  Redfield, however, would tie the game, 5-5, in the top of the fifth with two runs.  They would take the lead, 6-5, on a single with two outs in the top of the sixth inning.  The Bulldogs got runners to second and third in the bottom of the six but were unable to score.  Again, Baltic put the tying run on base in the seventh but were held scoreless.

Determan had two hits and an RBI.  Amelia Sinding also had two hits.  Rollinger finished with a home run and an RBI.  Pickett added a triple with an RBI.  Hansen and Wehde both had a single and an RBI.  Ashlyn Klein and Anna Hoekman both also had a hit.  Charlee Blommer pitched seven innings and allowed six runs, three earned, on 11 hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts.
