The Baltic Bulldog softball team scored a run in the bottom of the seventh after Chester tied the game in the top of the inning to win 16-15 at home on Friday, April 24th.
Both teams put up runs early and often in the game. The Flyers scored two times right away in the top of the first inning. Baltic responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning for a 3-2 lead. Chester would tie the game, 3-3, with a run in the top of the second. Baltic didn’t let the tie last long as they scored two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Bulldogs would then have a six-run inning in the bottom of the third to extend their lead to 11-5.
Chester would rally, however. The Flyers scored three times in the top of the fourth inning and then had their own six-run inning in the top of the fifth to go in front 12-11. The Bulldogs regained the lead with three runs in the bottom of the inning. They added another in the bottom of the sixth to take a 15-12 lead into the seventh inning. With one out in the top of the seventh, Chester scored three times to tie the game 15-15. Kya Rollinger started the bottom of the seventh for Baltic with a single. Anna Hoekman hit the game-winning double to center field to score courtesy runner Jaz Vrchota to win the game.
Rollinger had four hits, hitting for the cycle with a single, double, triple, and home run, and drove home two runs. Madyson Determan had three hits, including a home run and double, with three RBIs. Ashlyn Klein added two doubles and three RBIs. Anna Hoekman had a single and double with two RBIs. Kaylee Siemonsma also had two hits with two RBIs. Jordyn Wehde finished with two singles and an RBI. Analiya Hansen ended with two singles.
Klein pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed 12 runs, 11 earned, on 12 hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Charlee Blommer pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
