Baltic Softball Earns First Win of the Season

The Baltic Bulldog softball team earned their first win of the 2024 season by defeating the Mt Vernon/Plankinton Titans 20-10 on Saturday, April 20th.

Both teams lit up the scoreboard in the first three innings.  The Titans scored five runs in the top of the first inning.  Baltic responded with six runs in their half of the first inning for a 6-5 lead.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton got another run in the top of the second.  The Bulldogs scored two more runs in the second and two more in the third for a 10-6 lead.

Mt Vernon/Plankinton cut into the lead with a three-run top of the fourth inning to make the score 10-9.  The Titans got a game-tying run in the top of the fifth.  The Bulldogs then got a big inning in the bottom of the sixth.  They scored 10 times to end the game on the 10-run rule, 20-10.

Haedyn Painter had three hits, including a double and triple, with an RBI.  Baylee Breece finished with two hits, one a triple, and two RBIs.  Alexis Kehn also had two hits and two RBIs.  Katelyn Moser and Kaiya Lenderts both had a single and an RBI.  Caitlyn Pickett and Ryah Peters both had one RBI each.  Peters pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, only one earned, on two hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.  Charlee Blommer pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed five runs, one earned, on a hit and three walks with three strikeouts.
