Cubs Split at West Sioux Triangular

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team split their two matches at the West Sioux Triangular held at West Sioux High School on Monday, September 16th.  The Cubs earned a win over West Sioux but lost to Elk Point-Jefferson

Alcester-Hudson 3, West Sioux 1

The Cubs won three straight sets after falling in a close opening set.  West Sioux won the first set by a score of 26-24.  Alcester-Hudson took the second set 25-18.  The third set was another close one that needed extra points, but the Cubs got the win this time, 26-24.  They would then win the third set 25-17 for the match win.

Emma Solberg finished with 20 kills, nine digs, two ace serves, and a set assist.  Devin Honglso had seven kills.  Hannah Ahart added six kills, 27 digs, 36 set assists, and an ace.  Connie Hathcoat finished with six kills and eight digs.  Ayonna Schissel had five kills, 17 digs, and three ace serves.  Jenna Manning had 32 digs, and Baylee Klaschen added 27 digs.

Elk Point-Jefferson 3, Alcester-Hudson 0

The Huskies cruised to a straight set win in the Cubs’ second match of the night.  Elk Point-Jefferson won by scores of 25-9, 25-8, and 25-13.

Ahart had four kills, five set assists, seven digs, and two ace serves.  Schissel added three kills and seven digs.  Manning had 12 digs.
