Alcester-Hudson Volleyball Season Ends in Region Play

After a Region 4B opening round win on Monday, the Alcester-Hudson Cubs had their season come to an end against the #1 seeded Gayville-Volin Raiders on Tuesday, November 5th.  The Raiders won in straight sets by scores of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-10.

Gayville-Volin started the first set with a slim 4-3 lead.  The Cubs went on a 5-2 run to go in front 8-6.  The Cubs extended their lead to 13-8, but the Raiders went on a 4-0 run to cut the lead to one, 13-12.  Alcester-Hudson was able to push the lead back to three points, 15-12, but the Raiders went on a 5-2 run to tie the score 17-17.   They would score the next two points as well to go in front 19-17.  That spurt was enough to keep the Raiders in the lead.  Gayville-Volin led 21-19 before scoring the final four points for a 25-19 win.

The Raiders used that momentum to start the second set with an 8-1 run.  They continued to lead by about six or seven points at 13-6 and 18-11.  The Cubs cut the lead down to five points, 20-11, but Gayville-Volin finished the second set on a 5-1 run for a 25-16 win.  Alcester-Hudson held an early 3-2 lead to start the third set.  The Raiders responded with a 5-2 run for a 7-5 advantage and then scored the next six points to extend the lead to 13-5.  The lead grew to 20-10 before the Raiders finished the set, and match, on a 5-0 run for a 25-10 victory.

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 8-20.
