The Alcester-Hudson Cub volleyball team won their second match in a row on Tuesday, October 22nd. The Cubs defeated the Freeman Academy/Marion Bearcats by scores of 25-23, 17-25, 26-24, and 29-27.
Alcester-Hudson got out to a very fast start in the opening set. They built a 15-5 lead. The Bearcats were able to bring that lead down to four points, 20-16. They eventually were able to get the score tied, 23-23. The Cubs held off the Bearcats and scored the final two points for a 25-23 win. Freeman Academy/Marion had the first rally of the second set and started with a 7-1 run. The Bearcats stayed in front the entire rest of the set. They led 13-8, 18-11, and 22-15 before taking the win 25-17.
The Cubs were able to start the third set with a 5-3 lead. They extended the lead to 10-5 and still led by five points, 14-9. The Bearcats scored the next five points to tie the score 14-14. Alcester-Hudson responded with three straight points for a 17-14 lead. The Bearcats tied the score again 19-19. The score was tied again 24-24, and then the Cubs scored the next two points for a 26-24 win.
The fourth set featured rallies by both teams. The Cubs took a slim 6-3 lead and extended it to 20-13. Freeman Academy/Marion chipped away at that lead and tied the score 24-24. Again the teams went back and forth to ties of 25-25, 26-26, and 27-27. Alcester-Hudson rallied for the final two points to win 29-27.
Hannah Ahart had 12 kills and 29 digs. Emma Moller finished with seven kills and eight digs. Jenna Manning had 38 digs. Emma Solberg ended with 28 set assists.
