Back on the court for the first time in two weeks due to weather postponements, the Alcester-Hudson Cubs hosted the Garretson Blue Dragons on Tuesday, January 16th. The Blue Dragons took the road win 57-39, but the win wasn’t as easy as the score might indicate.
Garretson held just a one-point lead after the end of the first quarter, 15-14. The Blue Dragons were able to increase their lead to double digits, 31-21, by halftime. The Cubs put together a big rally in the third quarter and cut the lead to just one point, 38-37, going into the fourth quarter. Garretson, however, would hold the Cubs to just two points in the final quarter to get the win.
Elly Doering had 21 points, 14 rebounds, and three steals. Delta Pies had five points and four rebounds. Emily Winquist added five points along with three rebounds and four steals. Jenna Manning ended with four points, three rebounds, and two assists.
