The Alcester-Hudson Cubs girls basketball team got behind by double digits early in the game against the Avon Pirates on Tuesday, January 2nd. The Cubs rallied, but ran out of time as the Pirates held for a 54-49 victory.
Avon held a 16-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Alcester-Hudson cut into the lead in the second quarter and trailed 24-17 at halftime. The Cubs continued to rally in the third quarter and pulled within a point, 37-36, going into the fourth quarter. Avon, however, was able to stay in front the entire quarter and hold off the Cub rally.
Elly Doering had 19 points, 17 rebounds, and four assists. Alexis Gray had 17 points and five rebounds. Jenna Manning ended with six points and three rebounds. Emily Winquist added five points, four rebounds, and two assists. Emma Solberg had two points and four rebounds.
