Cubs Volleyball Wins Third Straight Match

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team won their third straight match on Monday, October 23rd.  The Cubs hosted the Viborg-Hurley Cougars and won in straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-21.

Alcester-Hudson opened the first set with a 6-2 run.  The Cougars cut the lead to 8-6, but that was as close as they would get.   The Cubs went on a 10-3 run to extend their lead to 18-9.  They went on to win 25-15.

The second set started with a 4-4 tie.  The Cubs went on a run to take a 10-6 lead.  They built themselves a seven-point lead at 17-10 and 20-13.  The Cougars rallied to cut the deficit to 21-19, but the Cubs held for a 25-20 win.

Alcester-Hudson used the momentum of stopping the rally in the second set to build a 5-0 lead.  The Cubs continued to roll to a 22-9 advantage.  Viborg-Hurley made a big run to cut the lead to 24-21, but the Cubs got the final point to end the match with a 25-21 win.

Hannah Ahart finished with 20 set assists, 14 digs, two kills, and an ace serve.  Alexis Gray had eight kills, eight digs, and two ace serves.  Elly Doering added six kills, four blocks, and 10 digs.  Carly Patrick had five kills, eight digs, and two blocks.  Jenna Manning finished with 15 digs.  Devin Hongslo had six digs and two aces, and Emma Moller added four kills.
