Cubs Beat Beresford on “Dig Pink” Night

The Alcester-Hudson Cub volleyball team hosted the Beresford Watchdogs on their “Dig Pink and Officials Appreciation” night on Thursday, October 5th.  The Cubs defeated the Watchdogs in straight sets by scores of 25-8, 25-15, and 25-20.

Alcester-Hudson started the night on fire getting out to a 5-1 lead.  They pushed the lead to 10-3, 15-4, and then 18-6 before taking the first set 25-8.  The second set started closer with a 5-5 tie.  Beresford went ahead 7-9, but the Cubs responded with a 7-0 run for a 14-9 lead.  That run kept Alcester-Hudson in front the rest of the set on their way to a 25-15.  The Watchdogs started the third set with a 5-3 run.  The Cubs went on a 4-0 run to take a 7-5 advantage.  Beresford went on a run of their own, 5-0, to regain a 10-7 lead.  The two teams went back and forth being tied 11-11, 16-16, and 19-19.  Alcester-Hudson went ahead for good after a 4-0 run, 23-19, before winning 25-20.

Alexis Gray had 10 kills, five digs, and two ace serves.  Emma Moller had nine kills and eight digs.  Elly Doering finished with six kills.  Hannah Ahart tallied 23 set assists and five digs.  Carly Patrick had eight digs and three ace serves.  Devin Hongslo had seven digs, and Jenna Manning added five digs.
