Alcester-Hudson Finishes 4-1 at Great Plains Conference Tournament

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team played five matches, winning four of them, at the Great Plains Conference Tournament on Saturday, September 30th.  The Tournament was held at Andes Central High School.

In the first pool-play match of the day, the Cubs defeated Irene-Wakonda by scores of 25-17 and 25-21.  Alexis Gray had seven kills and six digs.  Emma Moller added five kills, five digs, and three ace serves.  Carly Patrick finished with four kills and two digs.  Hannah Ahart had 15 set assists, 10 digs, two ace serves, and two kills.

The Cubs played Andes Central/Dakota Christian in their second pool-play match.  Alcester-Hudson won in three sets by scores of 25-22, 15-25, and 25-19.  Moller had 15 kills and six digs.  Gray tallied six kills and 10 digs.  Ahart had 15 more set assists, nine digs, four kills, and two ace serves.  Jenna Manning added eight digs.

In the third pool-play match, the Cubs defeated Tripp Delmont/Armour.  They needed three sets again winning by scores of 16-25, 25-17, and 25-15.  Moller posted nine kills, six digs, and three set assists.  Elly Doering finished with six kills.  Gray had five kills, two digs, and three blocks.  Patrick had five kills and three digs.  Ahart had 20 set assists, 12 digs, four kills, and four ace serves.  Manning also had 12 digs.

Alcester-Hudson then played Andes Central/Dakota Christian again in the bracket portion of the tournament, this time winning in straight sets.  The Cubs won by scores of 27-25 and 25-19.  Devin Honglso and Patrick bouth had four kills each.  Ahart had three kills, five set assists, and 13 digs.  Manning added 10 digs.

In the final match of the day, the Cubs faced Gayville-Volin.  Gayville-Volin took the win in straight sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-17.  Gray and Moller both had four kills in the match.  Ahart tallied eight digs and seven set assists.  Manning had a team-high nine digs.
