Cub Boys Hang on for Win over Bon Homme

The Bon Homme Cavaliers had a last-second shot attempt to try to tie the game, but it was no good and the Alcester-Hudson Cubs hung on for a 61-58 victory on Saturday, January 21st.  The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Cubs.

Both teams had a one-point advantage in the first quarter.  The Cubs had the first lead of 17-16 at the end of the first quarter.  The Cavaliers had the lead at halftime, 31-30.  Alcester-Hudson went on a run in the third quarter and held a 46-38 heading into the fourth.  After scoring the first two points in the fourth, the Cubs had a 10-point lead of 48-38.  Bon Homme got the lead down to three points, 61-58, after a three-pointer with less than 10 seconds to play.  After the Cubs missed a one-and-one free-throw attempt, Bon Homme’s game-tying attempt was no good.

Jose Topete-Lopez had 17 points and seven rebounds.  Caden Winquist ended with 10 points.  Ethan Bovill finished with nine points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Dominic Van Egdom added eight points, 12 rebounds, and three assists.  Mateo Kleinhans had six points, five rebounds, and five assists.  Evan Brown also had six points and five rebounds.
