Gamecocks Rally Late for Win over Flandreau Cardinals

The Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks rallied for three runs in the ninth to tie the game and then scored two more in the 10th to take a 7-5 come-from-behind win over the Flandreau Cardinals on Tuesday, June 30th.

Each team plated a run in the first inning for a 1-1 tie.  The score remained 1-1 until the bottom of the sixth.  The Cardinals scored four times to go ahead 5-1.  Drew Talberg hit an RBI sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh to make the score 5-2.  With two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, Devon Garry delivered a game-tying double that scored all three runs for a 5-5 score.  The momentum continued into the top of the 10th.  Landry Knight hit a two-run double with one out that proved to be the game-winning hit.

Garry had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs.  Cam Quigley also had three hits, one of them a double.  Broc Haldeman finished with tow singles and an RBI.  Knight had a double and two RBIs.  Talberg had a hit and an RBI.  Gunnar Alfson, Jonah Rechtenbaugh, and Chad Morrison all had one hit each.

Blake Svoboda pitched five innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.  Knight tossed one inning and allowed four earned runs on three hits and two walks.  Rechtenbaugh pitched four innings and allowed two hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
