West Central High School Baseball Suffers First Loss of Season

The West Central high school team suffered their first loss of the season, 13-4, at home against Lennox on Monday, May 4th.

Lennox scored a run right away in the top of the first.  They added four runs in the top of the third and then had a big five-run inning in the top of the fourth for a 10-0 lead.  Gunnar Alfson had an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, and JT Steckley reached based on a dropped third strike that happened to score Nick Lorang and Alfson to make the score 10-3.  After a scoreless fourth inning, Lennox added four runs in the top of the fifth.  The game ended on the 10-run rule after the bottom of the fifth.

Alfson had a single and an RBI.  Steckley added a double, and CJ Den Boer had a single.  Alfson pitched three innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts.  Hayden Whiting also pitched three innings and allowed four runs, one earned, on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Carson Johnson allowed five earned runs on two hits and two walks.
