Trojan Volleyball Rebounds with Win over Titans

After a loss to the Chester Flyers, the West Central Trojan volleyball team rebounded with a home win over the Mt Vernon/Plankinton Titans on Thursday, October 16th.  The Trojans won in straight sets by scores of 25-14, 29-27, and 25-20.

In each of the three sets, the Trojans started with a 4-3 advantage.  In the first set, West Central slowly built a four-point lead, 11-7.  They then went on a 5-1 run to double up the Titans 16-8.  The Trojans continued to roll from there to a 25-14 win.

West Central was able to maintain their one-point lead to 8-7 in the second set.  The Titans, however, went on a 7-1 run to take a 14-9 lead.  The Trojans rallied to within a point, 14-13.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton was able to push their lead to three points, 18-15, but West Central went on a 4-0 run for a 19-18 lead.  The Titans regained the lead at 22-21 and even led 24-22.  The Trojans rallied to tie the score 24-24.  The set was tied again at 25-25, 26-26, and 27-27.  West Central was able to get the final two points to earn the extra-time win, 29-27.

After the 4-3 lead again to start the third set, the Trojans pushed the lead to 8-6 and then to 11-8.  They kept a three-point lead at 14-11.  West Central then extended the advantage to 19-14.  The Titans got the deficit back down to three points, 21-18, but that was as close as they would get.  The Trojans ended the match on a 4-2 run for the 25-20 victory.
