Chester Ends West Central Volleyball Winning Streak

The West Central Trojan volleyball team had their five-match winning streak come to an end in Chester on Tuesday, October 14th.  The Flyers defeated the Trojans in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-15, and 25-16.

Chester took an early 3-1 lead to start the first set.  They still led 5-4, but the Trojans were able to go in front 10-9.  The Flyers regained the lead at 14-12.  West Central went on a 3-0 run to go back in front 15-14.  The two teams traded small runs and were tied 21-21.  Chester would finish the set on a 4-0 run for a 25-21 win.

The Flyers started the second set with a 4-1 lead.  They pushed that lead to 7-2 and then it grew to eight points, 16-8.  The lead eventually grew to 10 points, 24-14.  The two teams traded points before the Flyers won 25-15.

The third set started with a small 3-2 advantage for Chester.  They would go on a 6-1 run to extend that lead to 9-3.  The Flyers continued to add to the lead and grew it to 19-8.  West Central fought back with a 7-1 run to cut the lead down to 20-15.  Chester, however, would end the set and match with a 5-1 run for a 25-16 final score.

West Central will host Mt Vernon/Plankinton on Thursday, October 16th and then play in the Dak-12 Conference Tournament on Saturday, October 18th in Elk Point.
