Wood Ducks Drop Close Game to End Cornbelt Regular Season

The Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks lost a close game to Colman to end the Cornbelt League regular season on Thursday, July 15th.  Colman scored a run in the top of the ninth to take a 2-1 win.

The first three innings of the game went scoreless.  The Wood Ducks grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to right field by J Jesson.  Colman would tie the game, 1-1, in the top of the sixth.  The score remained 1-1 until the top of the ninth inning.  Colman was able to sneak in a run on a wild pitch with two outs to take a 2-1 lead.  The Wood Ducks got a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth, but the game ended on a fly out one batter later.

Jesson had two hits, a double and home run, with an RBI.  Brodie Herr, Brayden Odegaard, and Seth Kuno all had a single in the game.  Braden Herr pitched three innings and allowed a hit and had one strikeout.  Andrew Zimmer pitched six innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts.
