Gamecocks Take Win over Wood Ducks

The Gamecocks went on a scoring spree late in the game to get an 11-1 win over the Wood Ducks on Friday, June 27th.

The Gamecocks took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the third inning.  The score remained 1-0 until the top of the sixth.  The Gamecocks then added a run in the top of the sixth, two in the seventh, five in the eighth, and then two more in the top of the ninth to extend the lead to 11-0.  The Wood Ducks scored their lone run in the bottom of the ninth.

Brayden Odegaard, Seth Kuno, Jacob Ellens, and Camden McDonald all had a single for the Wood Ducks.  Nathan Adrian added an RBI.  Derek Renken threw five innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits and five walks with two strikeouts.  Andrew Zimmer pitched two innings and allowed five earned runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

Joe Hanisch had three hits and an RBI for the Gamecocks.  Devon Garry and Chad Morrison both had two hits each.  Adam Hentges added a hit and three RBIs.  Cam Quigley had a single with an RBI, and Broc Haldeman had a hit.  Jonah Rechtenbaugh pitched eight innings and allowed three hits and a walk with 15 strikeouts.  Garry pitched one inning and allowed an unearned run on a hit with two strikeouts.
