West Central Girls Overcome Slow Start

The West Central Trojans overcame a slow start to get a 57-49 conference win over the Canton C-Hawks at home on Tuesday, February 18th.

The Trojans were held scoreless for almost seven and a half minutes to start the game.  Rayna Goehring made a three-point shot with :36 remaining in the first quarter for the first three points for West Central.  Canton would lead 8-3 at the end of the first quarter.  The Trojan offense got going in the second quarter.  They scored 27 points and took a 30-26 lead into halftime.

The C-Hawks started the third quarter with an 11-2 run for a 37-32 lead with 3:00 to play in the third quarter.  West Central rallied back to within two points, 40-38, by the end of the quarter.  The Trojans continued their rally and started the fourth quarter on a 9-0 run for a 47-40 lead with 4:15 to play.  They were able to stay in front the rest of the game for the win.

Kacey Jaton had 19 points.  Goehring finished with 13 points.  Ellie Knight had 11 points, six rebounds, and six assists.  Abbi Thornton added nine points and seven rebounds.
