The Humboldt/Hartford Wood Ducks got their first win of the season at home against Dell Rapids PBR on Sunday, June 16th by a score of 19-13.
The Wood Ducks grabbed a 1-0 lead after a run in the bottom of the first. PBR took the lead in the top of the second with a five-run inning. The Wood Ducks then scored nine straight runs. They got two in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth, and three more in the fifth for a 10-5 lead. Both teams scored a run in the sixth to make the score 11-6. PBR pulled within a run, 11-10, with four runs in the top of the seventh, but the Wood Ducks scored five more runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 16-10 advantage. Each team had a three-run eighth inning.
Jearl Jesson had three hits, two home runs and a double, with three RBIs. Andrew Zimmer had two home runs and three RBIs. Nathan Adrian added two singles an four RBIs. Gage Nelson also had two singles with three RBIs. Chase Vessells finished with two hits and an RBI. CJ DenBoer and Dominick Chandaswang both had two hits each. Brodie Herr had a single and an RBI, and Keaton Vessells finished with a double.
Logan Larson pitched five innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Zimmer pitched two innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts. DenBoer threw two innings and allowed three earned runs on five hits with one strikeout.
