Trojan Girls Snap Losing Streak, Rallies Past Tri-Valley

The West Central Trojan girls snapped a three-game losing streak with a 54-43 win over the Tri-Valley Mustangs on Tuesday, February 3rd.  The Trojans outscored Tri-Valley 15-4 in the final seven minutes of the game for the win.

The Mustangs started the game with a 7-3 run.  West Central ended the first quarter on a 12-0 run and led 15-7 at the break.  Tri-Valley was able to cut the lead in half, 24-20, by halftime.  The Mustangs went on an 8-2 run to start the third quarter to go in front 28-26.  The Trojans responded with an 8-0 run to go back in front 34-28.  West Central would hold a 37-36 lead going into the fourth quarter.  Tri-Valley tied the game 39-39 with 7:00 to play.  Ellie Knight would hit back-to-back three-point shots with about 4:45 to go to trigger the run by the Trojans.

West Central shot 38% (18-47) from the field overall, 40% (10-25) on three-point attempts, and 57% (8-14) from the free-throw line.  Tri-Valley ended the game shooting 31% (11-36) overall, 41% (7-17) on three-point shots, and 78% (14-18) from the free-throw line.

Kacey Jaton had 15 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.  Knight ended with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists.  Ella Harden also had 12 points.  Abbi Thornton had six points and five rebounds.
