Trojan Wrestling Returns Plenty of Experience in 2025-2026

Plenty of experience will be returning for the West Central Trojan wrestling programs for the 2025-2026 season.

The girls team will be returning all of their wrestlers from last season.  Sophomore Kyleigh Schuller (5th at state) and junior Hailey Fortney (7th at state) return as place winners at state last season.  Freshmen Bella Nelson, Kayla Pageler, Leah Schuller, and Autumn Verhook along with 7th-grader Maci Tiardt also return this year.

“I look forward to a great year with these girls!  They have taken strides in wrestling, and I look forward to their strides they will take this year,” said head coach Mike Ideker.

The boys team had a solid 2024-2025 season with a 5th-place finish at the state dual tournament and a 7th-place finish at the state individual tournament.  This season the boys team returns 10 starters, which includes six of the nine state qualifiers from a year ago and five of the six state place winners.

Kaden Haakinson looks to defend his state title this year.  Brody Gossen and Karson Vessells return after 3rd-place finishes last year at state.  Langdon Klinkhammer (5th at state), Bentley Klinkhammer (7th at state), and Hayden Whiting (state qualifier) also return this year.  Caden Roe, Alex Siemonsma, Grayson Pischke, Jett Whiting, Payton Barrick, Braylon Robbins, Braxton Huber, Luke Larson, Kash Garry, and Nate Struck all look to improve from their season last year.

“With a solid core of athletes returning to the line-up along with some new faces, the Trojans should be fun to watch and are set up to have another successful year,” said head coach Cole Grocott.
