The West Central Trojans wrestling team had wrestlers from both the girls and boys team competing in the 2025 South Dakota State A Tournament held in Rapid City on Thursday, February 27th through Saturday, March 1st. The girls team finished with 17 points. The boys team took seventh as a team with 100 points.
Kyliegh Schuller finished fifth with a 4-2 record. All of Schuller’s wins were by a pin. Hailey Fortney finished 0-2 in the tournament.
Kaden Haakinson took home the individual state title in the 106-pound class with a 4-0 record. Haakinson had two major decision wins, a pin, and a decision win. Brody Gossen (120) finished third with a 4-1 record. Gossen had two pins, a decision win, and a technical fall. Karson Vessells (126) also placed third with a 5-1 record, finishing with two pins, two decision wins, and a major decision win.
Keaton Vessells (157) was fourth with a 3-2 record, recording a pin, major decision, and decision win. Langdon Klinkhammer (138) placed fifth with a 4-2 record. Klinkhammer had two decision wins, a pin and a technical fall. Bentley Klinkhammer (113) finished seventh with a 3-2 record, recording a sudden victory, decision win, and major decision win.
Hayden Whiting (150) finished 1-2 with a major decision win. Cain Grocott (190) was 0-2 in the tournament.
