The West Central Trojan boys wrestling team took third place at the Region 1A Tournament held in Hartford on Saturday, February 22nd. The Trojans finished with 161.0 points finishing behind Watertown and Tea Area.
Nine wrestlers qualified for the state tournament by placing fourth or better, and two of them won an individual region title.
Kaden Haakinson won the 106-pound class with a 2-0 record, both wins coming by technical fall. Bentley Klinkhammer finished second in the 113-pound class with a 1-1 record. Brody Gossen took second in the 120-pound division with a 1-1 record. Langdon Klinkhammer (138) took second with a 2-1 record. Keaton Vessells was also second in the 157-pound class with a 2-1 record. Cain Grocott finished second in the 190-pound class with a 2-1 record. Karson Vessells (126) finished third with a 2-1 record. Orlando Whiting (144) was also third with a 3-1 record. Hayden Whiting (150) placed third with a 3-1 record.
Jett Whiting (132) placed sixth with a 1-3 record. Chaz Carda (165), Braxton Huber (175), Carter Evans (215), and Nate Struck (285) all finished 0-2 on the day.
