West Central Volleyball Wins Sixth Straight Match

The West Central Trojan volleyball team won their sixth straight match with a straight-set win at home over the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars on Thursday, October 9th.  They won by scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 27-25.

The Trojans jumped out to a quick 10-4 lead in the opening set.  They were able to push that lead to 18-11.  McCook Central/Montrose was able to get the lead down to four points, 20-16, but the Trojans were able to hold off the Fighting Cougars for a 25-20 win.

West Central took an early 4-2 lead to start the second set.  They held a one-point lead at 8-7 and 12-11.  They then went on a 7-2 run to extend the lead to 19-13.  The Fighting Cougars went on a 4-0 run to pull within two, 19-17.  The Trojans went on a 3-0 run to push the lead back to 22-17.  They then went on a 3-1 run to end the set for a 25-18 win.

The third set started with ties of 2-2, 4-4, and 8-8.  McCook Central/Montrose then took a 10-8 lead.  They pushed the lead to 15-11.  The Fighting Cougars were still leading at scores of 16-15, 19-18, and 22-20.  The Trojans went on a 3-0 run for a 23-22 lead.  McCook Central/Montrose  tied the score 24-24, and the set was tied again 25-25.  The Trojans got the final two points for a 27-25 to take the match.
